Power of attorney for medical treatment

Section 16 of the Patient’s Rights Law enables the patient to appoint power of attorney to someone who will then have the authority to agree in his/her place to receiving medical treatment, while defining the circumstances and conditions under which this proxy would have the authority to make such decisions. A Ministry of Health notice explains the topic in detail including a sample of the document authorizing power of attorney. Additionally, forms authorizing power of attorney can be obtained through the Society for Patients Rights in Israel.
